Location
Ethiopia is Located in the continent of Africa. Ethiopia is in the middle-east side of Africa. It is split by the Great Rift Valley. It covers 1,000,000 square kilometers of land and 104,300 square kilometers of water, making it a total area of 1,104,300 square kilometers which makes it the 27th largest country  in the world Ethiopia’s capital is Addis Ababa. which means a new flower. Its capital is the largest city of Ethiopia. The population of the city is about 3.4 million people. The population of the entire country is about 102.4 million people. 

Ethiopian currency
Early from 1730-1735 used salt blocks known as amole tchew for money. Then in 1741, The Maria Theresa thaler or MTT was a silver coin used in 1741. it was named after Empress Maria Theresa who ruled Austria, Hungary and Bohemia. in 1893 became the currency in Ethiopia, where it was known as birr. Birr  means silver. In 1903, a quarter birr, and January 16th  birr known as a ghersh were also used in Ethiopia. 1 birr is 16 ghersh. 1 birr is also 32 bessa. In 1915 the Bank of Abyssinia used paper for money. 1 birr is about 0.036 dollars.

Ethiopian culture                             
In some central and northern areas women make clothing out of something called Shammah. People in Ethiopia also speak 90 languages some of them are Oromo, Amharic, Somali, Tigrina, Sidamo and more. The national language is Amharic. In Ethiopia about 62% people are Christians 30% to 35% are Muslims and about 4% to 5% are other religions. Ethiopia has 13 months in its  calendar and their new year is in September 11 but in a leap year their new year is in September 12. Ethiopia is also about 7.5 years behind the Gregorian calendar today. Ethiopia counts its time in the opposite side of the clock. Sunrise in America is at 6:00 A.M. But the sunrise in Ethiopia  starts its day  backwards at 12:00 P.M. Ethiopia’s national animal is a lion its national flower is a Calla Lily. Ethiopia is also know for its middle distant runners and marathoners or long distant runners.

There are many different holidays in the country Ethiopia that are Ethiopian Christmas Day, Epiphany, Adwa Victory Day, March Equinox, Ethiopian Good Friday, Ethiopian Easter Sunday, International Labor Day, Freedom Day, Derg Downfall Day, Eid Al Fither, June Solstice, Eid Al Adha, Ethiopian New Year, September Equinox, Meskel,The Prophet’s Birthday, and December Solstice.

Food
Ethiopian traditional dish is made with vegetables and sometimes a very spicy meat. The food is a thick stew with injera and a large circle sourdough which is 20 inches long. It is made with fermented teff flour. Coffee is also drank in Ethiopia. Some people say drinking of coffee came from Ethiopia. Ethiopians eat with their hands.

Places to visit
Fasil Ghebbi is a beautiful place to visit. It was the home of many Ethiopian kings and queens. It was made by Emperor Fasilides in the 16th or 17th century. There is also a National Museum of Ethiopia made in 1944. It has many cultural items of Ethiopia. Simien Mountains National Park is another nice place to visit. It has big mountains. Rare Walia ibex and Gelada baboons live there.
